Welcome to the Media Center

The library media center provides resources and recreational reading materials for our students, teachers, staff and the community, which encourages and promotes lifelong reading and learning. The library collection includes more than 8,000 diverse items as well as research databases which give students 24/7 access to millions of resource materials, from any computer, including home. We recently arranged the majority of our fiction books into six popular genres!

The main library has seating for approximately 60 with five desktop computers and a connected printer, as well as two adjacent computer labs that have 24 and 25 desktop computers with connected printers for student use in the library. There are also an additional 450 Chromebooks and laptops used in teachers' classrooms throughout the school.

Media Center Mission

The mission of Fairview High School’s Library Media Center is to provide a welcoming environment where students, teachers and staff can inquire, learn, create, collaborate and curate information and experiences. The library media center strives to foster a love of reading and learning by extending and enhancing classroom experiences, modeling and utilizing current technologies that will assist students in becoming proficient, effective and ethical users of information and productive citizens in a changing global environment.

Services and Policies

The Library Media Center operates on a flexible schedule and is open to students, staff, teachers and the community throughout the day. Students do not have to sign in before/after school or during lunch.

Students may check out books for two weeks, and renew them for as long as needed in two-week increments. No overdue fines are charged, but if a book is not returned within a reasonable time, it will be considered lost and students will be charged replacement costs.

If a book is damaged by water or other liquid, the student will be responsible for replacement costs.

Students may come to the library to study, work on a computer, or print school materials. All students should have a pass and sign in/out on the roster sheet when arriving/leaving the library, which creates a roster to be used in case of a fire drill or an emergency.

Students will respect others when using the library and may be asked to leave if library space is needed for small group testing, etc.

Food and drinks are not allowed in the library or computer labs; water bottles are permitted, as long as they are kept away from computers.
