College and Career Readiness

As school counselors, our job is to help you to plan and prepare for college and your future career. Throughout your time at Fairview High School, you will meet individually with your counselor to discuss your academic and extracurricular interests to come up with the right plan for YOU. We hope the resources on this website help you in your search for your college and career. If you need any help, or have any questions, please reach out to your school counselor.

Planning for your future

Students should begin thinking about their future as soon as they enter high school (if not before!). The decisions that are made during your high school career may determine which options are available to you in your post-secondary career – wherever that takes you.

For students who know they want to attend college, there are many resources available to guide you through the process. Some questions to ask are: Where will you go? What school is a good fit for you? What are the admissions requirements? What might you major in? How do you decide where to apply, and once you get accepted, how do you make your final decision?

Another great tool that is available for post-secondary planning is called the NEXT guide. This guide provides links to career interest inventories, what future expenses after high school might look like, information about what degrees you can earn in college, military enlistment, going directly into the workforce, resume writing, and SO MUCH MORE!

Student Milestones for College

The Fairview High School Counseling Center is here to assist you with your College and Career Planning needs. Your counselors focus on the process of preparing for testing and college applications, getting to know your strengths and creative passions, and encouraging you to expand your academic and extracurricular interests to strengthen your college resume.

Transcript requests for current students and alumni

Order your transcript online if you graduated in 2018 or later and follow these steps:

Order a transcript
Select start button
Select sending institution (Fairview High School, Fairview, TN )
Follow instructions to enter student identifying information.
Select receiving institution. You may select multiple institutions.
Review your transcript order.
Enter your customer information.
Submit order
Make a note of the tracking number to check on your request and verify when the receiving institution receives it. It may take a week or two for the receiving institution to accept and process.

Paper Form and Alumni prior to 2018

Transcript request for 2017 and before will be processed by Robin Harrison at the campus. Please download, complete, and send the form along with your proof of payment to the following address:

Scholarships and Financial Aid

Williamson County Counselors have created a district-wide WCS Scholarship List. Students are encouraged to browse the list as they search for college scholarships. Students can only access the list with their WCS Gmail accounts.

State Financial Aid

Tennessee Resources

The state of Tennessee believes in fostering the educational success of every student, no matter what their future plans are. The following are all ways in which they invest in you.

Tennessee Promise: Seniors may apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship, which will provide two years of tuition-free attendance at a community or technical college in Tennessee.

TN Achieves Resources

Tennessee HOPE Scholarship: The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship Program provides scholarships and grant assistance to Tennesseans attending eligible Tennessee post-secondary institutions. Review the requirements for the HOPE Scholarship and apply online.

Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation: The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation administers over 20 different state student financial aid programs, including the HOPE scholarship, Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, Tennessee Student Assistance Award, and the Dual Enrollment grant.

Senior Information

Each fall, counselors will meet individually with seniors to make sure they have the information they need to apply for colleges and help with financial aid. We also hold a Senior Parent Night. For more information on the date of that event, please check the Important Dates on the Counseling home page.

Seniors, please report all scholarship offers to your counselors. Also, you may report volunteer hours unrelated to Tennessee Promise.

Dual Enrollment Overview

FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Student Aid)

The FAFSA should be filled out by anyone who is planning on attending a post-secondary school, regardless of whether you plan to take out student loans or not. Grants and other monetary rewards (Hope Scholarship, TN Promise, etc.) are tied to this form, which is why the counseling center will work hard to make sure your student completes it. The FAFSA event opens on October 1st.

TN Promise

Tennessee students are eligible for the TN Promise scholarship to attend a Community College or Technical School in the state. In order to receive this scholarship, students must graduate from high school, meet yearly with a TN Promise mentor, and perform 8 hours of community service per semester. The counselors at Fairview encourage all students to fill out the TN Promise application regardless of where you plan to go after high school. The TN Promise application opens on August 1st.

There are also some trusted websites that students can visit to search for scholarships. They are listed below.

Students will need to request that their transcript is sent to the colleges for which they have applied. For graduates before 2018, you will need to request a transcript from FvHS.
